86,500 miles and driving great!

Our Ford is getting a breather as we drive a fully electric Mini Cooper for the next year called the MINI E. We still drive the Freestyle whenever we're taking more than than the two of us. :) Plan on keeping the Freestyle for many years. Check out more info about the MINI E on our other blog:

Still running strong

I know it's been forever since we've posted anything about our vehicle.  We're approaching 78k miles and no major problems to report. Both heated seats stopped working around 76k and we're going in for service on that later this week. Thankfully we have the extended warranty. I've continued doing my own full synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles and that's worked out great along with saving some money along the way.  Hadn't had any accidents until yesterday when we were rear ended at a traffic light.  Awaiting an estimate on that but appears to be nothing major.

Second Oil Change & Tire Rotation

Went to Pacific Ford in Long Beach, CA today for a oil change and tire rotation. I took in 6 quarts of 5w 20 Mobil 1 oil and a Mobil 1 filter. Was charged $12.60 for the labor on the oil change and $20.00 for the tire rotation. Total bill $32.60. I'm a big believer in Mobil 1 after having used it exclusively on our last car. I'm going to attempt changing my own oil next time as it appears to be quite easy. Now averaging around 19.5 mpg over all. No problems to report.

First Oil Change

Went to Pacific Ford in Long Beach, CA for my first oil change at 3283 miles. They checked the computer for updates and said none were needed. No other issues. Freestyle continues to run great averaging around 19 miles per gallon overall.

Things going smoothly!

We're currently at 1850 miles and things are going great. I recently installed a Graco Snug Ride Infant Seat behind the driver's seat using the latch system. Very easy to do. I do need to have the front seat moved up a little further than I'd like (Since the Grace Infant Seat is rear facing) but it's no big deal. I'm about 6' 1" tall. I used the two Memory Settings on the Limited and set one for when the baby is with us and the other when she's not. We continue to be very pleased with the Freestyle.

Mileage so far....

Today we're at 1101 miles on our Freestyle. While the owner's manual says to not even bother checking your mileage till you hit 2000+ miles, thought I'd let you all know that in mixed driving but mostly highway (with lots of stop and go) I'm at 19.4 mpg. Being in Southern California, the stop and go traffic on the freeway can be even worst than plain old city driving.

Went to dealer to get a few things fixed

At 1037 miles it was time to return to the dealer to have a few things fixed. When we bought the vehicle we noticed a clip was missing at the bottom of the driver's side door. This caused the lower side panel to pop out slightly. During this visit they also adjusted the hood as it was very hard to close. The liftgate was also realigned. When facing the back of the vehicle I noticed that the gap on the right side was at least twice as wide as the left side. It was big enough to put your finger in. Finally, they tightened up the lower seat cushion on the front passenger seat. I noticed it had many stretch marks that were non-existent on the driver's side. Pacific Ford in Long Beach, CA was great at taking care of everything and putting me in a 2004 Explorer loaner while they worked on the vehicle. It took two days to get everything done but it was all completed as promised.
